37th Annual Crab Feed & Auction Raises Record Amount

Guests at the 37th Annual SJND Crab Feed & Auction.

SJND parents, alums and community members traveled back to the summer of 1967 donned in their tie-dye, flower crowns and Grateful Dead t-shirts to raise a record amount for SJND at the 37th Annual Crab Feed & Auction.

The evening commenced with a cocktail hour during which guests had the opportunity to bid on a variety of silent auction items and parties, or enter the ‘Pilots in the Sky With Diamonds Raffle’ for a chance to win a gorgeous 14k gold necklace with 1.25 carat diamond pendant.

Guests were then seated for dinner and Principal Ken Jennings spoke about Catholic Schools Week - which culminated that evening with a celebration as “one family” - and opened the event with prayer. Live bidding kicked off with the auction of a Summer of Love-themed Volkswagen Bus cake made by SJND alum and Whisk Cake Creations owner Henry Awayan ‘94.

After dinner, dessert auction winners picked from a table of mouthwatering confections before bidding on live auction items ranging from a Florida family vacation to a spot on a 30-person party bus tour to local breweries and wineries.

To conclude the evening, guests raised their bidder paddles in support of new, state-of-the-art scoreboards for the Kelly Gymnasium.

In total, the community raised over $119,000 for tuition assistance and athletics, a historical record for this event! Additionally, guests pledged over $20,000 for the new gym scoreboards.
