Crab Feed & Auction: Help Raise Funds for Flexible Learning Space in Marianist Hall
Today’s students are facing new and unique challenges. The way students interact and learn is evolving, and workforce expectations are shifting, creating a greater need for “soft skills” such as communication, collaboration and creativity. This year’s Paddle Raise at the 39th Annual SJND Crab Feed and Auction on February 1 will help transform common space in Marianist Hall into an effective learning space to accommodate student needs and promote group collaboration. What is now a well-trafficked, open space in the building, will be reimagined as a flexible workspace, featuring agile furniture ranging from mobile group tables and chairs to comfortable lounges for idea-sharing and independent learning.
Currently, students have few options for collaborative work space on campus, often resorting to working on benches or even the floor. Agile furniture in Marianist Hall will be used for group discussions, projects, personal reflection and study, or both, in turn improving student engagement and productivity.
In addition to supporting the Pilot experience, the flexible learning space will also enhance admission efforts as a visible reminder that SJND is committed to 21st century learning models.
Join us on Saturday, February 1 from 5:00-10:00 p.m. and raise your paddles to help bring the Marianist Hall learning space to life! All other proceeds from the night, including the silent and live auctions, benefit SJND student programs.
If you aren't able to attend the Crab Feed but would like to support the flexible learning space in Marianist Hall, you can still make a gift here. Please note in the Tribute Name field "flexible learning space".
