Cross Country Team Competes in State Championships

Aila Owens '21 competes in the NCS Meet of Champions.

Congratulations to our Men's and Women’s Cross Country runners and coaching staff for completing their seasons at the California State Cross Country Championships at Woodward Park in Fresno on Saturday, November 30.

The Pilots Varsity Men’s Cross Country Team advanced to the state championship after placing 3rd at the NCS Meet of Champions. They had a strong finish to the season, coming in at 17th overall in the state among Division 5 schools. The team's 17th place finish was highlighted by individual performances, including:

Rowan O’Brien '20: 62nd place (17:03)
Christian Granados '20: 75th place (17:11)
Arlo Rucker '22: 79th place (17:14)
Ellis Cervantes '20: 118th place (17:40)
Thomas McCue '22: 132nd place (17:47)
Dominic Padre '20: 149th place (18:00)
Chris Ramirez '21: 155th place (18:07)

SJND Cross Country Team placed 3rd at the NCS Meet of Champions.

On the women’s side, junior Aila Owens represented SJND at the state championship and ran a strong race on the 5K course in a time of 19:42 to finish 31st overall in the state among Division 5 schools.
