Pilots Become Eagles - SJND Seniors Earn Eagle Scout Honors
SJND seniors A.J. Elfar and Joseph DiGuilio completed hundreds of hours of service and projects and this summer were honored as Eagle Scouts. Elfar organized and rebuilt ten schoolyard benches over a three day period for his middle school St. Philip Neri. DiGiulio built a beneficial sink and counter potting space with a leech line for the community garden, also at St. Philip Neri.
At the end of June, DiGiulio attended the 23rd World Jamboree in Japan. After three summer internships at the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a research assistant doing data mining and converting agricultural products into biodegradable wrapping film, Elfar spent this summer as a biological science aid in the bio-products research unit. He was also accepted into Cal Poly San Luis Obispo’s summer Engineering Possibilities in College (EPIC) program.
