Prisms and Student Poets Lauded
The SJND literary magazine Prisms has once again been selected as superior and nominated for the highest award by the National Council of Teachers of English in their review of student literary magazines for 2013.
“The NCTE congratulates you and the students who produced this exemplary literary magazine,” wrote Kent Williamson, executive director of the NCTE, in his award letter to Betsy Norris, faculty moderator for Prisms.
In other poetry news, two students were recognized by the California Federation of Chaparral Poets for their work. Natalia Layson ’14 received honorable mention for her poem “Wrinkles,” and Giulia Marinos ’14 received a first place for her poem “Barcelona.”
