Service Learning Students from the music and art honors societies (Tri-M and NAHS) have collaborated to interview elderly residents from the Water’s Edge Lodge about their love and enjoyment of the arts as a way to make a connection across generations. The students artists and musicians shot video of interviews with the residents and edited to create a short film with the music and art that they and the seniors discussed. Students and residents celebrated the project by watching the film together.
Visual Arts Students had two successful shows at Blue Dot Café over the last few months. Café owners Megan and James Hume have been generous with our talented artists and we have received great feedback from Blue Dot’s staff and patrons, including some inquiries about purchasing select student works. We feel very blessed and grateful to have such wonderful support from the entire SJND community and a local business like the Blue Dot Café.
Many thanks to our generous and talented VAPA faculty members for leading learning both in and beyond the classroom.
