Welcoming the Class of 2019
This fall, SJND will welcome a class of 117 new Pilots from 32 different public, charter, independent and Catholic schools. We celebrated the Class of 2019 in April on Pilot Welcome Night. Faculty, students, parents and staff welcomed the Class of 2019 and their families in style—with music, Pilot shirts, BBQ and more. View photo album
This year, we are especially excited to welcome our inaugural group of six outstanding scholars (pictured here) from the Achieve program. Achieve provides financial and other resources to high performing, underserved students so they may attend Bay Area Catholic schools and, through the program, get leadership training as well as participate in summer internships and community service. The program currently operates at Mercy and Archbishop Riordan High School in San Francisco, Holy Names in Oakland, and will kick off its first year at SJND this fall. As the Holy Names program is dedicated to young women, our SJND program is dedicated to young men. Our Achieve scholars are: Saul Cuevas-Landeros of St. Elizabeth Elementary; Leonard Kamau of St. Lawrence O’Toole; Luis Leon Urias of Oakland School for the Arts; Jessie Lopez of St. Elizabeth Elementary; John Nguyen of St. Lawrence O’Toole; and Nestor Orozco-Llamas of St. Elizabeth Elementary.
